Annie Fanta, BA, is a psychology extern in the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. She is a third-year doctoral candidate in the counseling psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to her doctoral training, Annie completed a fellowship in autism research and clinical practice at the Yale Child Study Center. Annie has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder and a range of anxiety and mood disorders, as well as experience delivering behavior management interventions to parents and caregivers. Additionally, she has experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations for children with various clinical presentations.

Annie’s doctoral research broadly focuses on examining risk and protective factors for youth and parent mental health and how these factors impact family functioning. Clinically, she works from an ecological, person-center, and strengths-based approach in which she emphasizes the unique needs of each child and the importance of collaboration with parents, schools, and community organizations. Annie is passionate about using evidence-based practices and a warm and caring approach, to improve the psychological well-being of children and families.
