Carissa Aricola, PsyD, is a neuropsychologist in the Gund Learning and Diagnostic Center at the Child Mind Institute. She specializes in the evaluation and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and developmental delays.

Dr. Aricola is a lifespan-trained clinician with a strong pediatric focus, bringing extensive experience from private practice, academic medical centers, and hospital-based settings. She also has significant expertise working with youth with complex medical histories, psychiatric concerns, and trauma-related challenges.

Across her prior roles, Dr. Aricola has developed a broad clinical skill set. Her academic background includes serving as an adjunct professor of cognitive psychology at William Paterson University, and she has supervised trainees in a variety of settings. Earlier in her career, she worked as an in-home applied behavioral analysis (ABA) therapist and social skills group leader for children with ASD, experiences that continue to inform her collaborative and developmentally sensitive approach. She has also provided mindfulness-based biofeedback and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for individuals with treatment-resistant depression and served as a cognitive rehabilitation therapist in a neurorehabilitation center.

In her role at the Child Mind Institute, Dr. Aricola brings a thoughtful, methodical evaluation style that considers the full developmental context of each child. She is committed to helping families gain a comprehensive and compassionate understanding of their child’s strengths and challenges, ensuring they are equipped to make informed decisions that support long-term well-being and academic success.
