Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: Neuroimaging and Neuropsychological Findings

This advanced workshop will focus on the diagnosis of nonverbal learning disabilities (NVLDs) and autism spectrum disorder. It will provide information about neuroimaging as well as brain-behavior relationships in these disorders. In addition, discussion of the similarities and differences between these diagnoses will be provided. If time allows, a case will be presented to illustrate the research and diagnostic issues raised in the workshop.

  • The participant will be familiar with and able to discuss diagnostic requirements for a diagnosis of NVLD.
  • The participant will be able to discuss the similarities and differences between NVLD and autism spectrum disorder.
  • The participant will be familiar with the research supporting the NVLD diagnosis including neuroimaging findings.
