Program Overview

The SNF Global Center Communicator Fellowship is for professionals working in public communications — including traditional and digital media — who are based in LMICs. This fellowship equips communicators with the resources and expertise needed to raise awareness and promote understanding of child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) in their communities.

Over two years, fellows engage in public communication projects that bring greater visibility to mental health issues affecting young people in their home countries. The fellowship supports individuals from a range of communication professions, including journalists, broadcasters, and podcasters, empowering them to leverage their platforms to advance CAMH advocacy and reduce stigma.

Creating a Global Network of Mental Health Communicators

The fellowship is focused on building local capacity while connecting fellows to a global network of professionals and institutions. Cohorts will lead impactful communications campaigns that have the potential to shape public perceptions and policies around CAMH in LMICs.

Program Structure

  • Duration: Two years
  • Location: Primarily in fellows’ home countries, allowing them to engage closely with local communities and institutions.
  • Funding: Fellows receive financial support for their career development, including training and mentorship, as well as funding for public communication projects aimed at advancing the understanding of child and adolescent mental health.

Driving Change Through Public Communication

The fellowship provides an opportunity for communicators to become leaders in the conversation around CAMH, using their platforms to inform, engage, and inspire change. By providing them with the resources and networks needed to produce compelling, evidence-based content, the program empowers fellows to challenge misconceptions, reduce stigma, and advocate for better mental health services for young people.
