How It Works

Mentors will meet with their group of students twice per week during the summer to assist as they complete their capstone project. As a role model, mentors will be responsible for cultivating a positive, inclusive atmosphere and for building their mentees’ confidence in achieving academic goals, navigating college applications, and exploring careers.

Mentors will have regular check-ins once or twice per month virtually during the school year to assist students in making informed academic/career decisions, maintain relationships, and provide continued motivation.

Mentors will be assigned a Mentor Advisor, a seasoned mental health professional, who will advise mentors as they build and maintain relationships with their students throughout the year.

Other Ways to Participate

The Youth Mental Health Academy also offers opportunities for career professionals in mental health fields.
