Healthy Brain Network
Our Impact

A Lifeline for Families
Since 2015, thousands of children and adolescents have received no-cost diagnostic evaluations through the Healthy Brain Network. These comprehensive assessments — which can cost as much as $8,000 out of pocket — have been life-changing for many families.
- 96% of children assessed receive one or more diagnoses, with 53% receiving a first-time diagnosis
- All participants receive a comprehensive report, with 74% receiving tailored recommendations for continuing care
- These screenings identify students eligible for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), making it possible for families to access school supports for their child

Advancing Our Understanding of the Developing Brain
Studying how young brains develop is the most important route to new and better diagnostic tools and treatments. That’s why we’re building the largest, most comprehensive dataset in pediatric neuroscience — and sharing this de-identified data with the global scientific community to accelerate discovery.
- Healthy Brain Network data is used by investigators at every career level
- The Healthy Brain Network has yielded more than 490 scientific papers and data use requests from over 500 independent investigative teams
- Our biobank represents 27 terabytes of data and has generated millions of downloads from nearly 100 countries

Powering Discovery Through Open Science
Data sharing motivated by open science principles is central to the mission of the Child Mind Institute and critical to the impact of the Healthy Brain Network on global collaboration, reproducibility, and innovation.
Unlike traditional research efforts where data is held until papers are published, the Healthy Brain Network shares its results with researchers around the world. This open access is powering a range of discoveries from the development of novel interventions to digital tools aimed at making evaluations and treatments more efficient and scalable.
Participate in the Healthy Brain Network
Families with children and adolescents ages 5 to 21 are eligible to receive a no-cost, comprehensive evaluation through the Healthy Brain Network.
