As the summer comes to a close, getting back into the school routine is a challenge for lots of families. For kids with mental health or learning difficulties, it can be even harder. Kids who are depressed may feel more tired or struggle to get out of bed, while those who are anxious may refuse to do what’s required because they might be avoiding something that that causes them to feel distressed or nervous.

If you find that these transitions are harder than expected or need additional help or support, our doors at the Child Mind Institute are always open. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us today.

Help for Kids Struggling With Learning

Kids get frustrated at school for different reasons. Some have difficulty with reading or math. Some have trouble processing instructions. Others struggle with organizing their thoughts and determining the necessary steps to get homework done. Parents of these kids don’t always know how to get them the right kind of support.

Sometimes specialists at school can help, either in the classroom or in special sessions. But many parents find they need help for their kids after school.

Speech and Language Services

FOR CLINICIANS

Speech and Language Services

At all ages and developmental stages, a speech and language disorder can severely undermine a child’s ability to communicate wants and needs effectively, succeed in academic settings, and develop relationships. A child’s ability to communicate effectively contributes in no small part to overall mental health.

Although there are normal variations in when children begin to acquire language, professional assistance becomes necessary when children are not learning language as quickly as others, are not able to explain themselves or communicate clearly, or are struggling to understand others.

Our Speech and Language Service offers evaluation and treatment for children with a range of communication disorders.
