Good Morning America partnered with Child Mind Institute clinicians to discuss gender equality, boundaries and communication with girls and young women in the #MeToo era. ABC’s 3-part, 3-city series, “Raising Good Women,” looks at how our daughters are responding, and what they think about their future. It’s fantastic that media is stepping up to address these crucial issues, and that we’re starting a national conversation about how we raise our kids. As our clinicians make clear, it is important to consider every aspect of development: social, emotional, and mental health.

The Child Mind Institute clinicians who appeared on Good Morning America are David Anderson, PhD, senior director of the ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center; Stephanie Dowd, PsyD, clinical psychologist and Jamie Howard, PhD, director of the Trauma and Resilience Service.

In one interview, the girls speak confidently about pushing back if someone touches or crowds them.  “I just like put my hands here,” one said, “and I’m like, ‘Don’t cross the bubble space.’ ”
