When children struggle with anxiety disorders, they can experience distress and dysfunction in every sphere of life.
Despite potential to achieve in school and the desire to form strong, rewarding relationships with family and friends, their symptoms can interfere with their abilities, needs and dreams.
The Child Mind Institute’s Anxiety Disorders Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the full range of anxiety disorders and our clinicians feel comfortable treating the most difficult cases.
Conditions we treat include:
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Illness Anxiety Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Separation Anxiety Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder
Tic Disorders (including chronic motor tic and chronic vocal tic disorders)
We can often help families who have struggled to find effective treatment in the past. Our goal is to empower both children and their families to understand and overcome struggles with anxiety.
When medication may be helpful, our team works with board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists at the Child Mind Institute or collaborates with your physician. Our psychiatrists offer expert consultation on whether medication can improve treatment outcome, and provide ongoing medication management when requested.
