All patients at the Child Mind Institute receive a thorough evaluation before starting treatment. We view these evaluations as essential opportunities to examine your child’s strengths and weaknesses — and, more specifically, to gather the information required to accurately diagnose and effectively treat your child. Following the evaluation you will receive comprehensive feedback and treatment recommendations tailored to your child’s needs.
Diagnostic evaluation, which assesses difficulties in the behavioral, emotional and social realms of a child’s life
Neuropsychological evaluation, which assesses how a child learns and processes information, highlighting strengths and weaknesses in cognitive functioning
Early childhood evaluation, which assesses all aspects of early development. This evaluation is performed by a neuropsychologist and a speech-language pathologist working together and is for children ages one to five.
We will recommend the evaluation that is most appropriate for your child after an intake coordinator reviews your child’s developmental history and identifies areas of possible concern with our associate medical director, who is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist.
