Carey Werley, LCSW, is a former social worker in the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute.
Ms. Werley has a specialized interest in the treatment and evaluation of children, adolescents and young adults with anxiety and trauma related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, phobias, OCD, and selective mutism. She also has experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder, depression, ADHD, and other mood- and behavior-related disorders.
Ms. Werley has received training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP), motivational interviewing (MI), applied behavioral analysis (ABA), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT) and Parent Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM). She has experience providing comprehensive mental health assessments and individual therapy to children, adolescents and young adults in outpatient, school and home-based settings.
Her experience includes working extensively with schools, through staff development presentations on a variety of subjects, including anxiety disorders, selective mutism, high risk behavioral management, adolescent development and trauma. She also has experience providing school-based consultation and collaboration with teachers and other providers to enhance treatment.
Ms. Werley is passionate about empowering youth and families to learn the skills to overcome their challenges and reach their fullest potential.
