Intensive Academic Interventions
Individualized academic support to help strengthen learning skills and make progress in school.
What Are Intensive Academic Interventions?
Intensive academic interventions provide focused, individualized instruction for students who are struggling to meet learning benchmarks. By increasing the frequency or pace of support, children can build skills and make progress in a shorter period of time.
Sessions can be scheduled throughout the school year, during school breaks, or over the summer to reinforce skills or make progress.
About Our Intensive Academic Interventions
The Child Mind Institute offers intensive, individualized academic interventions tailored to each child’s educational and learning needs.
Our educational specialists provide support for children who:
- Need intensive reading, writing, or math instruction
- Have executive functioning weaknesses or organizational difficulties
- Would benefit from making progress on a compressed schedule
Intensive interventions can help children build skills sooner while strengthening their confidence and awareness of their learning strengths and challenges.
Treatment Approaches
Our specialists tailor academic support to each child’s specific educational and learning needs.
Instructional Sessions
Our educational specialists provide intensive reading, writing, and math tutoring, as well as skills training for children with executive functioning weaknesses or organizational difficulties.
Intensive Interventions
For families traveling long distances or children who may benefit from a compressed schedule, our specialists provide intensive interventions tailored to the child’s needs. Accelerating the pace of support can help children build skills sooner while boosting learning and self-confidence.
Consultation with additional specialists may also be available as appropriate.
Multidisciplinary Treatment
Children with co-occurring mental health or learning disorders can also participate in testing or treatment to address multiple needs. Every child receives a diagnostic intake evaluation and may also receive neuropsychological testing or psychiatric consultation.
Our staff may also provide time-limited consultation or training for school staff.
Follow-up Care
Following intensive treatment, our clinicians work with each family to develop a transition plan for ongoing academic support. Families may continue with our team or receive help connecting with community providers.
