Xinyang (Doreen) Teng

Doreen Teng is a psychology extern in the Mood Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute. Currently, Doreen is a third-year doctoral student in the school psychology program at Rutgers University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in education from UC Berkeley. Her dedication to working with children and adolescents began during her undergraduate years as a research assistant, where she investigated the social-emotional and language development of immigrant children.

In her graduate studies, Doreen has gained extensive experience in both clinical and school settings. She is proficient in various therapeutic models and assessment tools, utilizing trauma-informed interventions to implement multi-tiered systems of support and enhance mental health awareness in public schools. Doreen’s expertise extends to providing evidence-based treatment to support individuals with attention issues, grief, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, and learning disabilities.

Passionate about delivering individualized and holistic mental health care, Doreen employs a culturally sensitive and strength-based approach, with a focus on fostering trusting therapeutic relationships with her clients and their families. At the Child Mind Institute, she is committed to helping children and adolescents navigate their mental health journeys with compassion and expertise.
