Erin Shanahan, MSE, is a clinical psychology intern in the Anxiety Disorders, ADHD & Behavior Disorders, and Mood Disorders Centers at the Child Mind Institute. She has extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults with a range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges and has worked with diverse client profiles. Ms. Shanahan has received training in evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), person-centered therapy (PCT), and applied behavior analysis (ABA). She is also experienced in conducting comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations, helping families better understand their child’s learning profiles and mental health needs. Her clinical interests focus on working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, behavioral difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders, particularly those who require coordinated clinical and educational support.

In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Shanahan brings valuable experience from a variety of school settings. She has conducted classroom observations, collaborated with teachers to address behavioral and academic concerns, and provided direct services to students receiving special education.

Ms. Shanahan has also contributed to research at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and Prader-Willi syndrome. Her dissertation at Fordham University, under the mentorship of Annie George-Puskar, PhD, explores the preschool transition process in New York City classrooms. Ms. Shanahan is currently a sixth-year doctoral candidate in the School Psychology program at Fordham, where she also earned her Master of Science in Education (MSE) in Preschool Child Psychology and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Ms. Shanahan is passionate about providing compassionate, individualized care and is committed to supporting children and families as they navigate mental health and educational challenges. She aspires to continue her work in clinical, school-based, and private practice settings, offering therapy, consultation, and psychological assessment services tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs.
